Coronavirus COVID-19 Updates

Following the World Health Organization’s declaration that the Coronavirus is a public health emergency of international concern, we are now taking steps to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our colleagues and their families.

As a port operator and haulier, we are part of the UK’s critical infrastructure, supporting essential supply chains. Port of Middlesbrough will remain operational during this outbreak of Coronavirus COVID-19, we are classed as an ‘essential business’ and our workers are ‘Key Workers’.

In these unprecedented times we are doing everything we can to protect our colleagues, tenants and visitors to site; and continue to uphold the highest level of health and safety. We will continuously monitor the situation, whilst following advice from the government and Public Health England.

We have taken measures across our sites to protect our colleagues, including home working, split office locations and socially distanced our remaining office workers to adhere to government guidelines. For our operational areas we have implemented split breaks and enforced social distancing. We have also communicated the importance of an increased level of personal hygiene and offered provisions to aid this. We are in regular contact with all our colleagues via our HR and marketing and communications department. We are also offering support and advice for any of our colleagues that may be worried about the current situation or left isolated at home.

Access To Our Sites

With immediate effect, anyone experiencing flu like symptoms, including fever and a persistent cough is not permitted to enter any of our sites, including Port of Middlesbrough, all office locations and our sites based at British Steel Lackenby and Skinningrove.
